Job Title:  Digital Marketing and Database Manager

Organisation: Animal Defenders International

Location: London UK. Hybrid, 2 days remote/3 days office.

Salary: £35,000-£40,000/year (based on experience). Permanent, full time.

Annual leave: 20 days/year; +Christmas/New Year week closure; +national holidays.

Stakeholder pension.

Reports to: Senior directors

About You

  • You have a passion for protection of animals and our planet; you want to use your skills in a mission-critical role where you will plan and deliver high impact digital communications, from lead generation and conversion through to retention and reactivation, to calls to action.
  • You have knowledge of engaging supporters through high impact communications
  • Committed to excellent customer service and building relationships with individuals and organisations.
  • You have strong technical skills; marketing/information management experience – databases/HTML/CMS/email broadcasting – and always curious to explore new strategies.
  • At least two years’ experience with Raisers Edge and Engaging Networks
  • A good understanding of Facebook, Instagram, Google, YouTube; able to work with social media, PR, campaigns colleagues to deliver integrated campaigns.
  • An understanding of the latest SEO techniques would be advantageous
  • Your strong organisational skills help you manage and prioritise a busy workload.
  • Good English, writing and communication skills
  • Some experience with team building, budgets, management, report writing is advantageous.
  • Although not essential, experience of working for an animal or environmental NGO is desirable.

Animal Defenders International (ADI) works for the protection of animals and our environment worldwide, including animals in entertainment, in laboratories, food, wildlife trade and protection of animals in their natural environment. Our teams are based in London, Los Angeles, Bogota, Lima and South Africa. Investigations, evidence gathering, prosecutions, scientific and economic research educates, and secures legislation. When animal protection laws are passed, ADI offers support to rescue and relocate animals. The ADI Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa is home to lions and tigers rescued from circuses worldwide. Rescued bears and monkeys cared for in ADI facilities in sanctuaries in Peru. Our fellow earthlings have the right to life and to live in their natural space.

About the role

  • Effective management and optimisation of databases; supporter engagement; good customer service; delivery of communications.
  • Engaging supporters across a range of financial and non-financial touchpoints, sending out calls to action, donate, outreach.
  • Supporter/follower lead generation, conversion, retention and reactivation.
  • Digital support for ADI events, campaigns, fundraising.
  • Responsible for quality control, testing, optimisation of digital campaigns – advocacy, fundraising emails, landing pages, advising on tracking and improving conversion rates.
  • Setting digital and marketing objectives, with colleagues.
  • Assist with website development – new pages using CMS advocacy software, other.
  • Planning, implementing digital campaigns and projects, with colleagues.
  • Developing ADI’s reach and profile; monitoring of new digital developments and strategies.
  • Monitoring SEO developments and other opportunities
  • Team building, budgets, management; writing reports for directors and trustees

Skills/Expertise

  • 2 years’ experience with HTML/CMS/digital marketing/email broadcasting/multi-channel integrated campaigns
  • 1–2 years’ experience with Raiser’s Edge and Engaging Networks
  • Understanding of key performance indicators and reporting for integrated campaigns
  • Knowledge of marketing within a non-for-profit environment
  • Understanding of latest SEO developments
  • Strong experience in creation and roll-out of social media, digital marketing and media strategies with specialist colleagues; delivering deadline driven multi-channel projects
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Although not essential, experience of working for an animal or environmental NGO is desirable.
