Overview

An exciting and challenging position exists as a Project Manager – Operations at Vega’s head office in Burnaby, BC.  Reporting to the Senior Manager – PMO, you will be responsible for planning, executing and finalizing projects according to established deadlines, scope, and budget. You will ensure the deliverables are completed on time and on budget, as identified in the project plan, and track metrics as they relate to the project deliverables. The role will work with the Project Champion to establish core project teams and provide leadership, guidance, and support to designated staff, suppliers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Plan the project

Create a detailed project plan that identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
Identify resources (time, money, equipment, staffing, etc.) required
Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
Review the project schedule with key stakeholders
Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion

Staff the project

In consultation with the appropriate manager, recruit, interview and select appropriate team members (internal and external)
Ensure that personnel files are properly maintained and kept confidential
Ensure that all project personnel receive an appropriate orientation to the project

Implement the project

Execute the project according to the project plan
Develop MS Project timeline to document project activities
Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured
Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion
Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project
Review the quality of the work completed with the project team to ensure that project standards and timelines are met

Control the project

Write reports/updates on the project for management
Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures
Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation as required

Evaluate the project

Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality

Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase
Review project with stakeholders and identify areas of opportunities

Skills and Qualifications

3-4 Years project management experience working with a portfolio of multiple projects specifically on new product launches using a stage gate process
Bachelor’s Degree in Business-related concentration
Experience in a manufacturing food industry
Experience using Microsoft Project a strong asset
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a strong asset
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple complex projects
Strong leadership and delegation skills
Excellent knowledge of the development of project management documentation (e.g., project charter, communication plans, RACI chart, risk mitigation, and change management plans, and project closure report)
