Overview
Vietnam Animal Aid and Rescue needs an Assistant Shelter Manager at our shelter and small farm sanctuary where we feed, clean up after, and love 33 rescued animals.
The candidate needs to be able to help our shelter manager for our first shift from 5:30am to 9am. This includes feeding all the animals, sweeping and mopping, emptying litter trays and maintaining the front and back areas where our resident dogs, cats, chickens and pigs live. Afternoon feeding then begins between 3-4pm and generally takes one hour unless doing extra gardening jobs after.
Staff work 5 and a half days a week, and are able to go explore the city or enjoy the beach between shifts and in the evenings.
We require that staff are confident on a motorbike or comfortable riding a bicycle in the heat here to get around. We are 2 km from the center of the city and being used to this type of Asian wild traffic is essential.
Most of animal care involves cleaning up after them and maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the shelter and property. We have a lot of gardening work to do, and as we are just a mile from a beach, sand gets everywhere. It is VITAL that you enjoy cleaning. Being passionate about keeping the facility spotless and safe is really important for the animals and for all of us that live there at the shelter.
Onsite accommodation in your own room with shared bathroom. Kitchen available. 3 month minimum required stay. Travel insurance and rabies vaccination required. This is a PAID position with a small stipend of 10 mil VND which is enough to live on in Hoi An, but you might want some savings or other income on the side.
