About the Research Fellowship

Mentored by a member of ACE’s research team, Research Fellows work on projects that suit their interests as well as ACE’s research priorities. Since ACE uses an agile operating model, fellows have the opportunity to work closely with many different staff members on a variety of exciting and valuable projects. Examples of past fellowship projects include writing research briefs on commonly-used advocacy interventions, exploring ways to make ACE’s charity evaluation process more equitable, and participating on ACE’s Movement Grants Committee.

Research Fellows also work through a four-month syllabus of materials covering topics such as “evaluation charities,” “effective altruism,” “representation, equity, and inclusion,” and “wellbeing.”

The fellowship starts on July 5 and is four months long. Applications are open until May 14 at 12:00 am PST.

Stipends: ACE will provide stipends of $1,500/month for fellows working at least 20 hours/week. Unfortunately, at this time, we are only able to offer stipend payments to those whose legal residence is in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, or Colombia. We welcome applicants from other countries to apply for an unpaid fellowship.

About Animal Charity Evaluators

Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE) is a U.S.-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to finding and promoting the most effective ways to help animals. Through evaluating animal charities and researching interventions used to help animals, we aid compassionate givers, professionals, and volunteers in making informed decisions about how to help animals as effectively as possible. We provide career and volunteering recommendations and promote best practices for animal charities. We also award grants to academics and organizations to help them conduct their own research.
