Job Description:

We’re seeking a researcher to help us identify the greatest areas of opportunity for our clients within the plant-based food and beverage market. This role will involve conducting research on a wide array of topics, recording and analyzing the research data, and offering creative insights based upon that data.

Our Plant-Based & Alt Protein Industry Researcher will be responsible for:

  • Completing one-off research tasks on a variety of topics ranging from marketing to operations to industry events and beyond
  • Collaborating with our team and clients to understand and align on research objectives for larger client projects
  • Conducting in-depth research using internet resources like publicly available research reports, abstracts, and journal articles, to answer questions including but not limited to:
    • Market size (by channel) and growth rate of relevant categories in the plant-based space (ex. meat, milk)
    • Trends within the category, including innovation, ingredients, and flavors
    • Competitors in the space, including their product offerings (types, flavors, temp states, key attributes/claims/certifications, notable ingredients/allergens, formats), channels (retail, foodservice, industrial), positioning / unique value propositions, white space identification
    • Consumer pain points and desires
  • Reviewing and extracting key data from any purchased research reports
  • Compiling and organizing data from the research, and working with our team to analyze the data and draw conclusions that answer the defined research objectives
  • Contributing creative ideas and solutions to project questions
  • Attending team calls to discuss research progress, findings, leads to pursue, and general progress on projects
  • Assisting in the creation of client presentations to ensure that research and data are accurately and effectively captured and conveyed

Candidate Requirements:

  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Outstanding organizational and research skills
  • An ability to think creatively and problem solve
  • An unfailing ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Proficiency with Google Docs and Google Sheets is required
  • Ability to work with a data visualization software, like Tableau, is a bonus
  • Passion for advancing innovative food solutions that reduce our dependence on animal proteins is essential

Compensation: $30/hr
