About Rooterville Animal Sanctuary
Rooterville is a non-profit sanctuary with over 400 rescued animals. While there are many rescue resources available for dogs and cats, pigs have far fewer options. They are common victims of cruelty in the meat industry, and often misunderstood as pets. Rooterville is one of the few non-profits that provide specialized care for pot-bellied pigs. We strive to educate the public about the true nature and characteristics of these animals, and stress the importance of spaying and neutering them to prevent the birth of even more unwanted pets.
Our time is equally dedicated to educating the general public on plant-based diets. Rooterville believes in the sentience of all animals as well as their need for compassionate treatment. Pigs in particular are often victimized by modern factory farming or used for entertainment purposes in circuses or fairs where cruelty is common. Rooterville staff and volunteers understand that the best thing you can do for your health, for the animals, for the planet, and for the future is to adopt a plant-based diet. Our compassion for animals is demonstrated through:
* Example
* Education
* Exhibiting
* Peaceful Demonstration
* Outreach Events
Engaging people in the conversation is essential to promoting awareness about issues that affect us all. Through our network of volunteers and rescuers, we provide the resources for people to connect and share information. Whether that means attending an event, visiting the sanctuary, sharing the stories of our animal residents, or converting to a healthier and kinder lifestyle, we can all play a part in the elimination of animal suffering.
