Overview

We’re looking for someone to be our first ever Director of Activism. We are looking for a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, person of Color) advocate that would be motivated to educate our community on various ways they can advocate for animal rights. The core of this position will be organizing our monthly online activism trainings but the position will entail other accompanying responsibilities. Activism Director

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Lives in & is eligible to work in the U.S.
  • The ideal candidate must have an established commitment to vegan practices and DEI initiatives
  • Understanding of the socio/political issues that impact BlPOC especially as it relates to veganism & animal rights
  • 1 years of experience in grassroots organizing of animal activism or other social justice causes
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Note-taking skills
  • Good communication skills
  • People management a plus

Duties:

  • Provide strategy and critical input on APEX’s activism related activities
  • Create & lead monthly trainings for our community members
  • Draft monthly newsletter to our activism community
  • Provide 1:1 availability via zoom calls for our activism community
  • Interact with our community via our Slack channel
    • Update our community about advocacy related jobs, grants, opportunities, etc…
  • Survey our advocacy community monthly and as needed to gauge satisfaction with our programs & activities.
  • Travel as needed/as schedule permits
    • Attend & help facilitate our Pre-Animal Activist Week
    • Attend conference events
  • Motivate and assist our community members with taking grassroots action
  • Collaborate with veg-curious individuals & orgs that APEX partners with
  • Knowledgeable of
    • Farmed Animal Rights Movement
    • Intersectionality/Anti-Oppression
    • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion

  • Asana
  • Google Workspace (Google Drive, Calendar, etc…)
  • Squarespace
  • Social media platforms (Later, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook)
  • Clockify

Job Type: Part-time

Rate: $20/hr with possibility of increase based on our fundraising efforts.

Location: Remote (United States)

This is a remote position but preference may be given to individuals living in Atlanta, GA.

Availability Needed:

20 hrs a week / 3 – 5 days a week

Start Date: January 1st, 2024
