Overview

We are looking for someone to come and help us with our chocolate production. Your main role will be making our hot chocolate shavings – tempering chocolate into 5kg bars, and then shaving and packaging them. Training will be given for operating the chocolate shaving machine. You will be also making our range of chocolate nut butter cups. We would also appreciate someone who has  some baking skills and can make batches of cookies and brownies – training and recipes provided.

Most of your time will be spent producing similar products, with occasional scope for involvement in product development depending on the candidate. You will also be responsible for cleaning of the chocolate making area, with routine deep-clean days.

 

Criteria

Essential
Experience working in a kitchen
Attention to detail and precision
Able to move 25kg weights (sacks of cocoa/sugar)
Fluent English speaker
Love chocolate!

Preferable
Chocolatier experience / knowledge of tempering chocolate
Baking experience
Have level 2 food hygiene certicificate
Interest in vegan baking

Hours

Part time 24-30 hours per week, over any 3 weekdays.

We are busiest October-April and ask employees not to take major holidays during these months.

The job will be based at our chocolate shop/cafe in Angel, and the production takes place in a semi-open (visible) kitchen at the back of the shop.

Please note we operate a meat-free premises.

Start date by mid-February 2020

Pay £10.75 / hour

NOTE – we are also hiring for a part-time brunch chef. These are separate roles, however they could be combined into a full-time position for someone with the skills for both. Let us know if this applies to you.

At our chocolate cafe we serve our hot chocolates alongside great coffee, cakes and a chocolate-themed menu, with brunch at weekends. We also produce and dispatch our wholesale drinking chocolate to coffee shops and retailers from the same premises.
