Overview
Position Objective:
To coordinate a variety of projects and provide support to the Cruelty Investigations Department
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Develop and coordinate various departmental projects from conception to completion
• Perform research and analysis to support PETA’s work and campaigns
• Correspond with members of the public on various animal protection issues
• Draft letters to support various cases and projects
• Work in different divisions of the department in order to fill in during colleagues’ absences and during times of unusually high case volume
• Assess animal abuse situations reported to PETA and identified in the media across the country, and act in behalf of the animal(s) involved in order to alleviate the situation and/or obtain justice
• Represent the organization to the general public and professionally advocate PETA’s positions on various issues
• Provide assistance and support for PETA’s Community Animal Project (CAP)
• Perform short-term field assignments
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
• Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Animal handling experience preferred
• Proven ability to produce exceptional, accurate research and analysis
• Proven thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
• Proven excellent writing and editing abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to make sound judgments in crisis situations
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and follow through
• Ability and willingness to travel
• Ability and willingness to be on 24-hour emergency call
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. without assistance
• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver’s license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
• This position requires proof of the COVID-19 full vaccination and booster
