Seeking a Registered Dietitian to advocate for disease prevention and health promotion through a plant-based diet to health professionals, the public, and the government.
About the Physicians Committee
The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is a nonprofit health organization dedicated to saving and improving lives through good nutrition, advanced medical research, and public policy advocacy. Our vision is to create a healthier world through a new emphasis on plant-based nutrition and scientific research conducted ethically, without using animals. We invite you to visit our YouTube channel, our website, and Physicians Committee president Dr. Neal Barnard’s blog.
About the Nutrition Team
Over the past three decades, the Physicians Committee’s nutrition department has achieved many important successes. We’ve contributed to the elimination of the “meat group” in federal nutrition guidelines, carried out clinical research studies that have revolutionized the treatment of diabetes, and provided the scientific foundation for the health benefits of plant-based diets. Since 2004, meat consumption in the United States has fallen by 10 percent and the number of people adopting plant-based diets has increased dramatically. We aim to propel continued progress through direct patient care, nutrition education, and advocacy.
About this Career Opportunity
The Physicians Committee is looking for a Registered Dietitian to join our team.
The Dietitian will serve as a media spokesperson for the Physicians Committee, lead nutrition education programs, play a role on the clinical research team, tackle issues in federal food policy, and more. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated nutrition professional who is seeking to put their skills to work advancing a lifesaving cause.
The Dietitian will also meet with patients at Barnard Medical Center to provide one-on-one consultations as well as meet with patients in a larger setting to provide group support for making the transition to healthful plant-based diet.
This is a full-time position located at the Physicians Committee’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. (in Friendship Heights on Metro’s Red Line).
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for a team player with strong research, writing, and speaking skills and a passion for helping people improve their health with plant-based nutrition. If you share these qualities, have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, and have a registered dietitian credential, we’d like to hear from you. A certified diabetes educator credential is strongly preferred but not required.
