Overview

Full time animal caretaker Position – Responsibilities include feeding and watering animals, grooming horses, medicating animals with oral and injectable medications, topically treating any scrapes or wounds, cleaning barns, cleaning pastures and food and water bowls, restocking feed, and caring for rescued horses, cows, pigs, sheep and goats. This position also includes working two long days (8 am – 8 pm) which would include feeding, watering and medicating animals in the afternoon/evening.

Qualifications for the position are:

Prior animal caretaker experience at a sanctuary preferred, but not mandatory

Excellent animal behavior observation skills

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Able to perform strenuous physical labor and lifting (applicant should be in good physical condition with no back problems, and must be able to lift 50 lb. feed bags and bales of hay.

Able to work well with a variety of people

Very reliable, dependable and trustworthy (must have your own car that is reliable)

Passionate about animal welfare/rights and veganism

Most importantly – a genuine desire to give a good quality of life to the rescued animals

Hours – Monday thru Friday – all starting at 8 am. Three short days – 8 am-1 pm and 2 long days 8 am-8pm. Benefits include Paid time off, Paid holidays, fully paid Health care including Dental and vision – provided after 90 days.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00-$22.00/ hour depending on sanctuary experience
