Reverie Cafe + Bar is looking for an experienced Chef with a passion for full flavored, innovative, plant based cuisine who is excited about leading the kitchen at our community focused restaurant.

Reverie is currently a limited hours, takeout + patio only restaurant as the pandemic conditions remain, and the qualified candidate will learn our current menu + service model and help lead the kitchen as we start to re-open later in the summer, including developing new menu items. This position works closely with the 2 owners.

Reverie has been in its current brick + mortar form for just over a year, in normal times we are a neighborhood cafe that serves innovative yet approachable 100% plant-based cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere, along with a full coffee bar and a beer + wine bar. The ideal candidate has experience with catering and food trucks.  Reverie ran a food truck before starting this cafe and are looking to expand our off site offerings.

Reverie has always focused on collaboration between Back + Front of House, we believe in pay equity and have a no tipping service model. We are seeking a leader that leads by example and can collaborate with all staff members to get things done. We believe that there can and should be joy in work and we believe in keeping a positive work environment.

This position will be responsible for implementing new systems to help us grow, recipe, dish and menu design including specials, leading a growing kitchen team of 8 – 12, maintaining a clean, safe + positive environment, supporting staff + staff development, cost controls, working with other team members to coordinate off-site meals, catering and events.


Highly proficient at Line + Prep cooking with at least 5 years of professional experience
At least 2 years experience leading a kitchen team
Experience managing systems for controlling food costs, inventory + labor
Comfortable using computers, including spreadsheets
Strong interest in plant based cuisine and organic, local food
Comfortable guiding a young restaurant ready to grow in establishing new systems.
Food truck experience a plus, but not required
Catering experience a plus, but not required

Hours 40 – 50 per week

We have a full coffee bar featuring all the usuals plus house made milk and tea lattes; 20 tap lines pouring local brews, ciders, kombucha and switchel; and a carefully curated wine menu. There's plenty of space to post up during the day for a casual meal and nights are pretty fast-paced, but we always find a seat for everyone by the time your food comes out!
