Manager of Digital Marketing and Communications

Shamayim: Jewish Animal Advocacy seeks a team member for our organization. Shamayim is a nonprofit organization that runs programs, campaigns, and educational opportunities to teach the Jewish community about animal advocacy and veganism.

The candidate will perform the principal duties and tasks for this position which include:

  • Oversee and manage social media ideation, content creation, production, posting, and online conversations across social networking platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Manage social media presence including the creation of a monthly calendar focused on writing editorial/social copy, promotions, and responding to our audience
  • Raise brand awareness for Shamayim by increasing post reach and followers through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy to integrate relevant best practices
  • Create monthly newsletters in collaboration with the Director with action items, information about Shamayim’s programs and general animal rights news
  • Create any marketing materials needed for campus fellows and/or Synagogue Vegan Challenge participants and all Shamayim programs (posters for events, Facebook event header photos, etc)
  • Occasionally produce videos for Shamayim’s programs
  • Upkeep of Shamayim website
  • Occasionally reach out to news outlets to share stories from our programs and submit press releases
  • Support with the creation of fundraising materials
  • Create physical marketing materials when needed (brochures, posters, etc.)
  • Attend and work as part of the Shamayim team at the Shamayim annual retreat
  • Promotion of Shamayim programs, campaigns, and retreat
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Strong written, editing, and oral communication skills
  • Previous experience managing social media for brands is required
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organization skills and follow through
  • Knowledge of Jewish community and general non-profit organizations a plus
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture, texts, values, and traditions preferred
  • Strong interest in animal welfare, veganism, and the environment
  • Strong computer skills including Google apps, design software such as Canva, MailChimp, and website management skills

Part-time contract position (20 to 25 hours per week). Work from home in any city in the US. Competitive pay. Work closely with the Director, and board members.
