During your internship, you’ll gain experience in vegan cooking, study balanced nutrition as a vegan, and the philosophy behind what we do. You’ll learn to make vegan comfort foods, vegan sauces like nut cheese, gluten free bread alternatives, healthy juices and elixirs, and delicious raw vegan desserts. ???

You’ll have experience with cooking (at home or in a professional environment) and an interest in a healthy vegan lifestyle. We don’t expect you to be a professional chef! Experience with customer service, or restaurant work in any capacity will be a help.

You’ll enjoy working as part of a tight team (usually 4-8 people). Crew members who enjoy interacting with customers and have, or acquire, good knowledge of the nutrition aspect of our food, will do some shifts in the front of house. This means serving people, answering their questions, offering samples, and explaining our methods. Others prefer being in the kitchen, and that’s fine too.

Our menu is designed to appeal to those trying vegan food for the first time as well as to long-time vegans. We’re compassionate to all, whatever their daily dietary habits, and wish to spread the benefits of a vegan lifestyle simply by showing how delicious and healthy it can be.

We travel across state borders to the events, so being open to carpooling on long journeys is essential. Having a clean driving license, or your own car is a plus, though not vital. Being able to drive a stick-shift would be great!

We have a lot of fun, and we also work hard. At these large events, there can be long lines and long hours, so it’s good to be calm under pressure.

You’ll live with the crew, camping at the festivals or sometimes sharing motel rooms. Your accommodation is free during the events, as are your yummy vegan meals.

A smaller number of the us are involved in setting up the booth prior to events. Everyone helps with clean-up and break down when it’s time to go home. Some fairly heavy lifting can be involved.

We also do our best to make sure all members of the team have some time to experience and enjoy the festival we’re vending at.

Our 2018 festival season begins in May.

This is a volunteer position open to all nationalities. For the right candidate, the position can lead to full time paid employment at manager level with The Beet Box.
