About The Sheep Sanctuary Inc.

The Sheep Sanctuary Inc. was founded in 2004, became state certified in 2006 and gained 501c3 status in 2007.
The original mission of The Sheep Sanctuary was to exclusively provide eldercare and hospice care for Sheep. As Goats in need started to show up, we expanded to become New Mexico‘s only vegan farm animal sanctuary specializing in the care of ruminants (especially Sheep and Goats). We provide sanctuary for the elderly, infirm, orphaned, unwanted, discarded or those headed for slaughter. In the last decade, other species needing rescue (Turkeys, Peacocks and Horses), became residents as well. Our daily activities include: housing, feeding, watering, medical treatment and hospice care for between 60 and 80 animals… and always striving to educate others about the sentience of non-human animals.”
