Would you like to co-ordinate, host & inspire volunteers at one of the largest vegan Primate Sanctuaries in the world?

We are seeking an enthusiastic, pro-active, dedicated, positive and friendly character to take on the role of Volunteer Coordinator with immediate effect. This placement is ideally for a minimum of 18 months but if can come soon, there may be possibilities of a 6 month interim position.

In our Volunteer Coordinator, we want someone :

  • With at least two years work experience
  • Who has a keen interest in the environment and conservation, not necessarily having previously worked with animals.
  • Has excellent organisational and people skills and can confidently demonstrate team leader capabilities.
  • Has basic computer skills and able to work on their own initiative with good time management and organisational skills.

As your primary goal will be to anticipate the needs of the Volunteers, duties will involve :

  • Organising travel to the sanctuary through a company
  • Managing Volunteer introductions, inductions and initial health & safety training.
  • Oversee there are sufficient meals and stock and supervise kitchen services for volunteers – all meals are vegan.
  • Manage and maintain the Volunteer Village and social areas.
  • Attend and coordinate volunteer meetings, weekend trips and events.
  • Option to assist in vegan outreach or additional animal care tasks when time.

In taking on this as a long term volunteer role, you will require an 18 month – 3 year volunteer visa.

We provide vegan meals, basic cabin accommodation, a small stipend plus holidays and the chance to experience the culture and wildlife of South Africa.

We rehabilitate and provide sanctuary to over 500 primates, orphaned, injured, abused, ex-laboratory or unwanted pets.

A project for volunteers to become involved in the conservation and rehabilitation of this unique indigenous primate. Opportunities for volunteers, vet nurses, gap year students and those involved and interested in primate conservation. The promotion of a vegan lifestyle to help sustain the environment, prevent habitat loss, animal suffering and to make a contribution towards helping many of the world’s issues.
