We are looking for a General Manager to oversee all staff, budgets and operations of WAVE cafe.

General Manager responsibilities include formulating overall strategy, managing people and establishing policies. To be successful in this role, you should be a thoughtful leader and a confident decision-maker, helping our team develop and be productive, while ensuring our profits are on the rise.



Overseeing the day-to-day operations of WAVE
Bookkeeping, maintaining records, and running deposits
Solving challenges faced by customers and employees
Overseeing cleanliness and maintenance of the shop
Adjusting menu to maintain customer flow
Maintaining inventory, ordering, and receiving product
Design strategy and set goals for growth
Control budgets and optimise expenses
Ensure employees are motivated and productive
Oversee day-to-day operations

Set policies and processes
Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally
Oversee recruitment and training of new employees

Manage staff rota

Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance
Direct the employee assessment process
Prepare regular reports for upper management
Ensure staff follow health and safety regulations
Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors)
Manage overall business health and safety
Managing & coordinating events


Necessary Skills & Qualifications:

Food safety certification
First aid qualification
Knowledge of trends in the coffee industry
Ability to prepare a variety of beverages
Basic money handling skills and accounting knowledge
Ability to effectively communicate with patrons and employees
Self-motivated and inspiring
Ability to prioritise effectively
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift up to 20kg
Availability during operational hours (may include nights, weekends, and holidays)
Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role
Experience in planning and budgeting
Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations etc.)
Strong analytical ability
Excellent communication skills
Outstanding organisational and leadership skills
Problem-solving aptitude


Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

Associates degree in business or hospitality
2 years experience as a barista
BSc/BA in Business or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus
